Innogy and Statkraft will start survey work on 3 November in Lincolnshire at the site where the export cable for the 900MW Triton Knoll offshore wind farm comes ashore.
The cone penetration tests (CPTs) will take place at 18 sites on the dunes and beach at Mogg’s Eye near Anderby over three days.
Testing involves pushing an instrumented probe 36mm in diameter into the ground from a vehicle called a CPT rig.
The developers said only one vehicle is required on site, although a second standby rig may also support the work.
All consents have been secured and permissions granted, allowing full access for the works to take place, while Triton Knoll has also consulted Anderby Parish Council in preparation for the survey activity, the developers said.
Walkover surveys have already started to assess the topography, measure site conditions and gather information along the 60km length of the proposed onshore cable route from Anderby Creek to Bicker Fen.
Engineers from Balfour Beatty are carrying out the surveys, which are expected to be completed by the end of November.
