Dutch developer Global Renewables Investments has signed agreements to build wind and solar power plants in Iran.
The initial investment is expected to be around €90m, the company said without giving more details.
It is working with local Iranian partners Sheedsun, Energy Pak Soroush Hormozan and Lalehaye Khonin va Isargaran Khaf, as well as Greenmatech of Germany and Chinese contractor SUMEC.
Iran is committed to the 2015 Paris climate agreement and offers large-scale, incentivised renewable energy opportunities, according to the Dutch company.
“With its huge market potential and warmth towards the international business community we are convinced that Iran is on the brink of becoming one of the great success stories,” Global Renewables Investments co-founders Gerben Pek, Mohssen Poteratchi and Shelim Islam said.
