Lake Erie Energy Development Corp (Leedco) has appointed Offshore Design Engineering (ODE) as engineering representative on the 20.7MW Icebreaker offshore wind demonstration project in Lake Erie.
ODE, part of the UK’s Doris Group, has already provided Leedco with technical expertise to support the demo.
The new work will involve ODE facilitating the certified verification agent process for the project.
This will include the completion of the basis of design, design methodology and independent load analysis.
The six-turbine demo will be located eight to10 miles off the shore of Cleveland in Lake Erie and is part of a US Department of Energy program to promote the installation of innovative offshore wind systems in the US.
ODE managing director Peter Godfrey said: “We regard the Icebreaker project as a critical component in the development of the US offshore wind industry.”
