Duke Energy Carolinas has issued a request for 750,000MWh of renewable energy located in its territory.
The company said the request is open to solar, wind, biomass, landfill gas and other facilities that qualify under North Carolina’s 2007 renewable energy and energy efficiency portfolio standard.
The request will help Duke meet the standard, which mandates the company generate 12.5% of its retail sales in the state by renewable energy or energy efficiency programs by 2021.
Facilities must be located in Duke Energy Carolinas’ service territory, with bio plants fuelled by swine and poultry waste excluded.
