French developer EREN has won support to develop a 97.2MW wind farm in southern Argentina under the country’s first auction for renewable energy.
The Viento los Hercules wind farm in the Santa Cruz province could generate up to 440GWh of electricity annually, EREN said.
The project is one of the 12 wind farms selected in Argentina’s RenovAR tender, which awarded 708MW to the technology out of a total 1.1GW.
All the projects will sign 20-year power purchase agreements with grid operator CAMMESA.
Wind farms will receive an average of $59.4 per MWh, a government presentation shows.
Viento los Hercules was initially developed by local company EoliaSur, EREN said.
