Labour has appointed former shadow defence secretary Clive Lewis as shadow secretary for business, energy and industrial strategy.

Lewis said: “I am delighted to accept the role of shadow business secretary.
This is one of the most challenging times for our country, and I want to set out policies that are central to Labour’s vision for 21st century socialism.”
Labour was unable to confirm if shadow international trade secretary Barry Gardiner would remain as shadow minister for energy and climate change.
Corbyn made Diane Abbott his new shadow home secretary, replacing the outgoing Andy Burnham. Shami Chakrabarti will be the new shadow Attorney General.Keir Starmer has been appointed shadow Brexit secretary.
