The Australian Renewable Energy Agency has granted Canadian Solar US$3.5m for two solar power projects totalling 47MW in Australia.
The projects are the 17MW Longreach and 30MW Oakey plants in Queensland.
Longreach will comprise 54,600 of Canadian Solar’s new MaxPower2 CS6U-320 polycrystalline modules and is expected to have output in the first year of operation of approximately 39GWh.
Oakey will use 93,600 of the company’s MaxPower2 CS6U-320 (1500V) modules, and is expected to have output in the first year of operation of about 59.9GWh.
Both solar facilities have 20-year government-backed Contracts for Difference in place.
Canadian Solar plans to start the construction of the projects in the first quarter of 2017, with commercial operations slated for January 2018.
