SSE has put the around 225MW Stronelairg wind farm back in play and plans to build the wind farm under the UK Renewables Obligation regime.
The utility said following a review of the Scottish Highland project that a final investment will be taken in this calendar year, clearing the way for construction.
It is expected SSE will take advantage of grace period criteria included in UK legislation which would give the wind farm extra time beyond the current March 2017 RO deadline.
SSE provided no added details on substance or timing at Stronelairg, which was the subject of a protracted legal wrangle following consent from Scottish ministers. That was resolved in July by a ruling at the Court of Session.
The utility also warned in a “notification of close period” ahead of six-month results in November that its wholesale business would be “negatively impacted” by the “significantly lower output of electricity from renewable sources” when compared with the same period of 2015.
Improvements in the economics of thermal generation would partly offset that decline, it added.
