Swedish wave developer Corpower has completed manufacturing of its 25kW, half-scale HiWave device to be installed at Scotland’s European Marine Energy Centre.
The buoy will ship to Sweden from Ilhavo in Portugal by end of this week for integration and dry rig testing in Stockholm, followed by ocean testing at EMEC’s nursery wave site at Scapa Flow in 2017.
The demonstration project involves Iberdrola Engineering and Construction, WavEC Offshore Renewables, The University of Edinburgh, EMEC and Composite Solutions.
CorPower’s technology has received financial support from the Swedish Energy Agency, KIC InnoEnergy and Wave Energy Scotland, resulting in a successful fundraising campaign where the company secured €6.5m.
