Deutsche Windtechnik has set up a subsidiary in Sweden as part of its plans to expand maintenance services to Scandinavian wind turbine operators.
The business has its headquarters in the southern Swedish municipality of Varberg and a sales office in Stockholm.
Linus Sturesson has been appointed managing director of the Swedish business unit, while a project manager and a service manager will join him in the near future, the German company said.
Deutsche Windtechnik added that negotiations are ongoing with various prospective clients in the region and it expects to sign the first contracts shortly.
Sturesson said: “The remuneration for wind power in Sweden is very low. This makes it even more important to optimise the costs of wind farms.
“Our range of services focuses exclusively on maintenance and offers operators interesting savings potential as an alternative to service by the manufacturer.”
Deutsche Windtechnik Service managing director international Lars Behrends said: “Scandinavia is an attractive market with strong growth. Sweden is the springboard from which we intend to expand into the Scandinavian market in the medium term.”
