The Scottish government is holding the first of two meetings with the energy sector in order to discuss the implications of the Brexit vote on the industry.
Energy Minister Paul Wheelhouse will as part of proceedings outline to “key sector stakeholders” Holyrood plans for a forthcoming climate change plan and energy strategy.
The minister will hear industry opinion “on the best joint way forward to navigate current uncertainty”.
Wheelhouse said: “We have a duty to provide as much reassurance and certainty as possible in these circumstances. Scotland’s third Climate Change Plan will set out how we intend to meet our greenhouse gas reduction targets between now and 2032, towards a long-term reduction of 80% on 1990 levels by 2050.
He added: “Our new Energy Strategy will demonstrate how to facilitate and capitalise on the transition to a low carbon economy, reaping social, economic and environmental benefits. We will seek to provide leadership, clarity and direction for industry – the impetus for which has greatly increased following the EU referendum.
