James Ives is stepping down as chief executive of the Irish tidal turbine maker OpenHydro after almost 12 years in the role.
In a company statement, Ives said “now is the right moment to hand over leadership of OpenHydro” as it transitions from technology development to industrial supply.
OpenHydro is a subsidiary of French company DCNS and Ives said that he has “no doubt that with DCNS’s support, OpenHydro will consolidate itself as the tidal energy market leader”.
DCNS senior vice president of energies and OpenHydro chairman Thierry Kalanquin said: “DCNS is fully committed to our Irish operation and while we conduct our search for our new chief executive, I will take up the reins at OpenHydro on an interim basis.”
