ScottishPower is on course to place contracts worth more than £3bn this year, its highest annual investment to date.
The record amount is a combination of large investments in onshore and offshore wind farms, as well as major grid upgrades and the rollout of smart meters, the utility said.
More than £2.2bn of contracts have already been placed this year, it said.
Major projects currently being delivered by ScottishPower include eight onshore wind farms in Scotland and the 714MW East Anglia 1 offshore wind farm off the Suffolk coast.
Contracts placed this year include the largest-ever deal for offshore wind turbines, signed with Siemens.
“To help us deliver some of the most important projects we have ever undertaken, this year we have placed more contracts than ever before, with companies ranging from global industry leaders to small local suppliers,” ScottishPower chief corporate officer Keith Anderson said.
“Every contract we place supports important jobs and creates opportunities for growth, and we plan to continue investing significantly to strengthen the UK’s energy sector in the years ahead,” he said.
