Bladt Industries has awarded a contract to Granada Material Handling to design, manufacture, deliver and commission 30 davit cranes for SSE’s 588MW Beatrice wind farm off the Scottish coast.
Each of the ‘Python’ cranes, which will be specifically designed for Beatrice, will be four metres high, have a 7.5m radius and weigh 2000kg, Granada said.
The 1250kg maximum lifting capacity is needed to hoist the heavier serviceable components from the supply vessel to the laydown area on the platforms of the foundation platform, the company added.
One crane will be fitted to each of the 30 platforms being supplied by Bladt Industries, it added.
Granada Material Handling director Mark Sidwell said: “We are currently working with designers, wind farm developers and turbine manufacturers to further enhance the product range to ensure the very latest developments in lifting technology are made available to the rapidly expanding and ever developing offshore renewable market.”
