Aecom has been appointed owner’s engineer on the 180MW Mount Emerald wind farm in north Queensland in Australia.
The infrastructure specialist said it will work closely with the Ratch Australia project team on the A$360m wind farm.
Aecom said it will assist in “managing technical compliance requirements, key risks and challenges during the different phases of the project”.
Ratch has also selected Vestas and Downer Group as preferred contractors on the 53-turbine project and is now working with them to finalise contracts for construction and operations.
Ergon Energy will buy all the electricity generated by the project out to 2030 when Mount Emerald comes online in late 2018.
Aecom Australia power director Craig Chambers said. “The Aecom team has delivered more than 3GWof wind projects, supporting a variety of clients across a broad range of services in Australia.
“We bring a detailed technical knowledge and understanding of the regulatory requirements as well as industry best practice, ensuring that Ratch Australia has direct access to some of the most experienced wind sector professionals in the market.”
