French outfit Vallourec is to provide structural hollow sections (MSH) for anode cages that constitute the corrosion protection system of Dong Energy’s 660MW Walney Extension offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea.
The 400-ton order will serve to fix a set of sacrificial anodes that help slow down the oxidation of the wind turbines’ metal surface, Vallourec said.
It added that prior to final assembly the tubes will be bent into the specified shape by Kersten Europe, with Bladt Industries responsible for the cage assembly.
Vallourec said its MSH sections have already been used on boat landings, platforms, topsides, j-tubes and transition pieces in the offshore wind sector.
