BEIS will decide by 8 March whether to approve Quarry Battery Company’s planned 99.9MW storage plant in North Wales.
The Planning Inspectorate has finished the planning examination for the £160m scheme at Glyn Rhonwy near Llanberis and will issue its recommendation to BEIS secretary Greg Clark by 8 December.
Clark will issue the final decision by 8 March.
Quarry Battery Company subsidiary Snowdonia Pumped Hydro wants to build the 600MWh pumped storage facility by converting two disused slate quarries.
