German company Teamtechnik has signed a memorandum of understanding with Vikram Solar to design production lines and supply plant technology to support the Indian solar module producer’s expansion plans.
Vikram Solar is set to expand its module production to 2GW by 2019 from 500MW currently.
It plans to invest more than Inr400 crore on the project, creating about 3000 new jobs.
Teamtechnik will supply technology for solar module production and put it into operation, as well as train operations managers, process engineers and service technicians at Vikram Solar.
The companies are also planning a future collaboration in the area of materials research, process optimisation and production technology, with the intention of further improving efficiencies while continuing to reduce module costs.
