Ecosse Subsea Systems has awarded UK engineering consultancy Ardmore Craig a contract to design a carousel and a spooling spread to store cables.
The carousel will be designed for capacities in excess of 1,500 tonnes, Ardmore said.
The devices will be used by an unnamed utility to store spare cable lengths for 40 years.
“We have a long-running and mutually-beneficial working relationship with Ardmore Craig with its team supporting our project engineering and operational activities,” Ecosse managing director Mike Wilson said. “This latest carousel contract demonstrates how companies within the supply chain can work together to offer leading blue chip businesses safe, simple and robust engineering solutions.”
