German developer BayWa has acquired distributor Solarmatrix to enter the Australian module and components business.
The Australian company, founded in Perth 13 years ago, specialises in the engineering of commercial solar energy systems and in the wholesale of photovoltaic components.
Its eight employees and managing director will remain employed, Baywa said.”After entering the market in South East Asia a good half year ago, we now continue our international growth strategy in the Southern hemisphere,” BayWa chief executive Klaus Josef Lutz said. “Given its high levels of sunlight, Australia is a most interesting business field for photovoltaic energy.”
