A recovery operation is underway in Scotland after a lorry transporting a wind turbine blade burst into flames today forcing the closure of the A714 road near Newton Stewart.
According to the AA recovery of the blade at the Bargrennan Bridge “may take some time as a number of cranes are required”.
The road was closed early on Wednesday after the cab of the lorry burst into flames.
“Firefighters in breathing apparatus quickly extinguished the blaze and thankfully the driver of the vehicle was not injured. The cab of the HGV was completely destroyed by fire,” said the Scottish Fire and Rescue service.
It is not yet known if the turbine blade was damaged in the incident.
