Iberdrola has successfully installed the substation for its 350MW Wikinger offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
The Spanish company said on social media that the Andalusia platform (pictured) had been lifted into place at the project site off the island of Rugen this weekend.
Components sailed away from fabrication yard Navantia mid-month. Wikinger features a double-topside configuration on a six-legged jacket foundation.
The substation will both collect power from the wind farm and be used by transmission operator 50Hertz to facilitate future offshore wind developments in the area.
Wikinger will feature 70 Adwen 5MW turbines and is scheduled to go live end-2017.
