Foundation installation at the 400MW Rampion offshore wind farm off the Brighton coast is nearing the halfway mark.
Swire Blue Ocean jack-up Pacific Orca and MPI vessel Discovery have completed a total of 52 of the 116 Sif-made monopiles.
Both vessels will continue the foundation campaign for the remainder of the year with the erection of 116 MHI Vestas V112-3.45MW turbines due to start in early 2017.
VBMS cable lay vessel Stemat Spirit has also started installation of the export wires from the landfall connection at the Brookland Pleasure Park. South Korea’s LS Cable fabricated twin 16km 150kV AC export cables.
Meanwhile, Fugro started laying JDR-made 36kV array cables at the site last week.
The company’s multi-purpose vessel Fugro Symphony is tasked on the job and Fugro Saltire will arrive next month to begin cable burial.
“The first cable laying campaign is due to finish in early November, when there will be a break over the winter season,” said a Rampion spokeswoman.
The wind farm will be commissioned in 2018 and is being developed by Eon, the UK Green Investment Bank and Canadian energy company Enbridge.
