Canadian developer Innergex Renewable Energy is nearing the finish line at the 150MW Mesgi’g Ugju’s’n wind farm in Quebec.
General contractor Borea Construction has completed all access roads, crane pads and foundations and turbine erection is well underway. Senvion is expected to deliver the final of 46 3.2MW-114 turbines in September.
Twin main power transformers have been installed and the transformer station is expected to be energized at the end of September as planned, Innergex said in a second quarter earnings report.
Quebec contractor Thirau is building a 25km 230kV power line to connect the C$305m wind farm to the transmission grid.
“It now appears that the project will be completed on budget and the end of construction and the commissioning of the Mesgi’g Ugju’s’n wind farm will take place at the end of 2016,” said the developer.
Innergex has increased the gross estimated long-term average energy yield to 562.5GWh from 515GWh.
The 9% increase is thanks to a switch to higher capacity turbines, lower estimated losses in the electrical collector system and Senvion’s blade de-icing system, said Innergex.
The project, a 50:50 joint venture between Innergex and three Mi’gmaq Nations of Quebec, is due online by 1 December under the terms of a 20-year power purchase agreement with utility Hydro-Québec.
