Gardline Marine Sciences’ multi-role vessel RV Ocean Researcher is mobilizing ahead of a geophysical survey for Dong Energy’s proposed 1GW Bay State Wind project off the US’s northeast coast.
Dong secured a lease for an area about 15 miles off Martha’s Vineyard last year to develop Bay State, which would be its first offshore wind project in North America.
The Danish utility said the project would employ up to 1000 people during construction, with about 100 skilled jobs required during the 25-year lifetime of the project.
The turbines would be located in water depths of 40 to 50 metres, Dong said.
