Maersk Training is launching a new rotor blade technician course in the UK with the aim of increasing the number of skilled workers who can inspect, assess and repair damaged units.
The training, which has been developed with support from renewable energy consultancy 8.2 Aarufield, is the first of its type to be offered in the UK, Maersk Training said.
The 10-day course includes inputs from multiple blade types and manufacturing technologies, as well the principles of the DNVGL-ST-0376 standard, the company said.
Only 30% of the course is theory based, with the rest practical work including sessions in a rotor blade repair shop and wind composites and coatings training lab.
The course will be run each month at Maersk Training’s Newcastle centre starting in September.
