Vestas has won an order from EDF Renewable Energy’s to supply and install 80 2MW wind turbines in the US.
The Danish giant said the hardware was part of a global supply deal between it and EDF Energies Nouvelle for US and European wind farms.
Vestas said a service and full-scope service package is included in the 160MW order. The location of the projects where the turbines will feature was not disclosed.
“This order secures EDF RE’s ability to capture the full value of the Production Tax Credit by strategically deploying our versatile 2MW platform on a variety of wind sites, delivering more cost-competitive wind energy to rate payers throughout the US,” said Vestas US sales president Chris Brown.
“Since entering our first master supply agreement with Vestas in 2013, EDF RE has installed more than 2GW of the Vestas wind turbines throughout the U.S.,” added EDF RE president Tristan Grimbert.
“Our order today further demonstrates the success of our partnership and industry collaboration to bring more wind energy projects online.”
