UK company Lark Energy has applied for funding to test its renewable solar thermal system in Mexico.
The technology concentrates the power of the sun’s rays through a Fresnel lens array to heat water to create steam that can be used in industrial process heating and cooling applications.
The company has applied to the Mexico-UK Collaborative Industrial Research and Development Programme to develop a demo project.
The programme is sponsored by the National Science and Technology Council in Mexico, Innovate UK and the Newton Fund.
If the funding application is successful, Lark Energy will develop the demo in collaboration with academic and industrial partners in Mexico and with the support of Cranfield University and the Queen Mary University of London.
Lark Energy will contribute £160,000 to the total project budget of £800,000.
The company expects the project will take three years to complete.
