Ocean Breeze has awarded TUV Rheinland and Hanseatic Power Cert (HPC) a contract to inspect turbines and foundations at the 400MW Bard Offshore 1 wind farm in the German North Sea.
TUV Rheinland and HPC will make sure that the wind farm complies with the standards of German offshore authority BSH. This includes foundations, 20 turbines and the substation, according to TUV Rheinland project manager Andreas Puls.
Earlier this year, Bard Offshore 1 became the first offshore wind farm in Germany to produce more than 3TWh of electricity.
TUV Rheinland will oversee turbine inspections while HPC will be in charge of the structures.
Bard Offshore 1 is located about 100km northwest of Borkum island and features 80 Bard 5.0MW turbines on jacket foundations in depths of up to 40m.
