The global wind market is expected to total 705.5GW of installed capacity by the end of 2020, according to Navigant Research.
In a new report – Navigant Research Leaderboard Report: Global Wind Turbine Vendors – the authors said wind capacity grew by 63.1GW or 23.2% last year, making it one of the fastest growing energy sectors.
It also analysed 12 turbine manufacturers and ranked them in terms of vision, go-to-market strategy, partners, production strategy, technology, geographic reach, sales and marketing, global market share, 2015 capacity, product quality and reliability, product portfolio, cumulative installations, and staying power.
Danish company Vestas topped the ranking, followed by US giant GE Energy and German company Siemens.
Spanish manufacturer Gamesa came in fourth, with Enercon fifth, Senvion sixth and Nordex seventh.
Chinese turbine company Goldwind was ranked eighth, followed by India’s Suzlon and Envision 10th.
