Enel has 1.5GW of wind energy under construction and just over 1GW ready to build, according to its results for the first half of 2016.
The company said 658MW is being built in North America and 611MW in Latin America.
Enel said its renewables business generated earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of €920m in the first half of 2016, down slightly on the €946m in the same period last year.
EBITDA from renewable energy was €100m down in Italy at €305m, but was up in North and Latin America at €234m and €198m, respectively, in the first six months of 2016.
Overall EBITDA was €7.8bn, up from €7.4bn in the first half of last year.
At the end of June, the company had almost 6.8GW of wind installed around the world, of which over 2GW was in North America, 1.4GW in Latin America and 1.6GW in Spain and Portugal.
Wind accounted for 62% of the company’s renewables pipeline followed by solar with 34%.
