Centrica suffered an almost 30% drop in wind generation in the first six months of this year compared to the same period in 2015 as the utility continues a renewables divestment strategy.
The company said onshore and offshore wind generated 309GWh between January and end-June. This is down 29% on the 435GWh recorded in the same six months a year earlier.
Centrica said the drop was mainly due to the sale of its stakes in the 194.5MW Lynn and Inner Dowsing offshore wind farm and 26MW Glens of Foudland onshore project to the UK Green Investment Bank and Blackrock. That deal was announced in February.
Lower wind speeds also hit generation volumes at its 270MW Lincs offshore wind farm off the UK east coast but the project maintained a 96% availability rate, the company said.
Centrica added it is “developing plans” to sell its 50% stake in the project, its last remaining wind asset.
Overall, the company booked revenue of £13.4bn for the first six months, down from £15.5bn in the corresponding period last year, and recorded adjusted operating profit of £853m, down from £970m.
