JDR has unveiled a 66kV inter-array cable that uses high-voltage technology to boost power transmission between offshore wind turbines.
The cable has completed qualification and type testing program, including terminations and accessories, the UK subsea cable specialist said.
The 66kV technology has capabilities up to 72.5kV and will contribute to the offshore industry´s cost reduction targets, JDR said.
“JDR is pushing technology boundaries in the industry as we move to higher voltage energy networks,” chief technology officer James Young said.
“The development program has involved collaboration with the full supply chain, developers and stakeholders,” he added.
“This has provided confidence to customers that our 72.5kV cables are fully qualified to meet the future needs of the energy industry.”
