Southern Company subsidiary Southern Power has acquired the 102MW Lamesa solar farm in Texas from RES America Developments.
RES co-developed Lamesa, which will consist of 410,000 photovoltaic panels, with the originating developer BNB Renewable Energy Holdings.
It will construct and serve as the operations and maintenance contractor for the facility, which is located on 887 acres in Dawson County.
Construction is set to start in this month, with commercially operations planned for mid-year 2017.
Electricity and associated renewable energy credits generated by the project will be sold under a 15-year power purchase agreement to the city of Garland.
