A Cape Sharp Tidal turbine and Scotia Tide barge have arrived in Halifax harbour for ballasting.
The tidal turbine sits on a steel subsea base, which is to be ballasted – filled – with concrete over a period of about 10 days.
The work will be carried out by RMI Marine, which is based out of Dartmouth, with the work taking place at the Richmond terminal.
The turbine was towed by the Atlantic Towing vessel Atlantic Fir.
Cape Sharp is a joint venture between Irish tidal turbine maker OpenHydro and Canadian utility Emera.
