GE’s Saint-Nazaire plant in France has completed production of five Haliade 150 6MW nacelles for the 30MW Block Island offshore wind project in the US.
The turbine components are ready to be loaded for shipping to Rhode Island. Towers and blades already have been delivered to the Port of Providence.
Developer Deepwater Wind plans to start turbine installation in August, while array cabling is set to begin this week.
Deepwater expects to commission the first offshore wind project in the US in late 2016.
