Irish developer Gaelectric will open its 4MW Roosky wind farm in Roscommon later today.
The €9m project features two Enercon turbines that will generate about 10,800MWh of electricity, or enough for about 2,200 homes.
It will be Gaelectric’s ninth wind operating farm across Northern Ireland and the Republic.
The company operates about 175MW of onshore wind capacity and aims to have about 400MW by the end of 2017.
“We are delighted to launch Roosky wind farm, our sixth operating wind farm in the Republic of Ireland and one of nine we now have operating on the island of Ireland,” chief operating officer Barry Gavin said.
