RES has delivered the first phase of an operations and maintenance consultancy services contract for an offshore wind farm planned by Hitachi in Japan.
The unnamed project, which will comprise Hitachi’s HTW5.0-126 turbines, is due for completion in the early 2020s, the UK company said.
The consultancy work included analysis of the Japanese turbine manufacturer’s planned O&M strategy and offshore logistics.
Hitachi senior engineer Shinzo Inoue said: “In Japan, offshore wind is at the very early stage of development.
“Players in this business field, including Hitachi, need much knowledge backed by experience in the European market to advance the offshore wind industry in Japan. Hitachi has learned much through the work with RES.”
