Renewables will be one of the hot topics when Scotland’s three island councils meet the UK government on Monday for the second annual Islands Summit.
The meeting will be chaired by UK government minister Andrew Dunlop and include council representatives from the Western Isles, Orkney Islands and Shetland Islands.
Other issues up for discussion include the Crown Estate, digital connectivity and a “possible ‘islands deal'”.
Dunlop said: “The UK government is committed to supporting the islands to thrive and develop and to assist wherever possible in overcoming the challenges posed by their geographical remoteness.”
The first summit was held in March 2015.
