The UK’s independent review of tidal lagoons has issued a call for evidence and is also looking for any suggestions people may have on the costs, benefits and opportunities of such schemes.
The review is assessing the strategic case for tidal lagoons and whether they could play a cost effective role as part of the UK energy mix.
It is led by former energy minister Charles Hendry.
The terms of reference in the call said the assessment will consider the potential scale of opportunity in the UK and abroad including supply chain opportunities, possible financing structures, the size of projects and whether a competitive framework could be established to deliver schemes.
Hendry (pictured) said in the call that he also sought evidence of potential sites, developers and opportunities, as well as consideration of environmental and grid issues, navigation and port impacts.
The deadline for submitting evidence is 31 July.
The findings of the review are expected to be announced in the autumn.
