Offshore wind turbine giants MHI Vestas and Siemens have appealed to UK companies to bid for supply contracts.
Representatives from both companies addressed the opening share fair session of the Global Offshore Wind conference in Manchester this morning.
Siemens’ procurement manager UK and Ireland Paul Savvides said there were a range of opportunities available for domestic companies at its Hull blade and pre-assembly facility.
These include maritime contractors with expertise in transportation and lifting of turbine components.
MHI Vestas vice president head of sourcing Lars Feldskou also appealed to domestic companies as it gears up to supply its 8MW machines to the Burbo Bank 2 and Walney 3 wind farms in the Irish Sea.
“We are here to stay and we are very committed. We have already found a number of partners who we like to work in the long run, but with projects we have over here we are looking to widen that area and get more quality suppliers,” he said.
