UK engineering company Red Marine is developing a new flange bolt installation and torquing tool and sea-fastening system for towers, transition pieces and nacelles to reduce costs for offshore wind farms.
The company, which is working with OMC’s Tim Bland on the project, said the flange bolt installation and torquing tool will “enable safer handling of multiple flange bolts and to reduce installation times and costs”.
The sea-fastening is a clamp-based system, which is adjustable for a range of different sized components, Red Marine said.
“Our new technology is set to improve safety and reduce project risks as well as overall project costs,” the company added.
