Vattenfall is considering an extension to its 300MW Thanet offshore wind farm off the north-east Kent coast in England.
A company spokesman said Vattenfall was talking to the Crown Estate about the possibility of an addition to the wind farm.
“We are doing some initial preparatory work for a possible extension to Thanet, but it is early, early days,” he said.
Vattenfall was successful in the Crown Estate’s Round 2.5 process in 2010 with a proposed 147MW extension but parked the plans within a year of award due on onshore grid constraints.
Thanet, which is located 12km off Foreness Point at Margate, consists of 100 Vestas V90 3MW turbines and has been operational since 2010.
