Enel Green Power RSA has completed and grid connected the 66MW Tom Burke solar power plant in South Africa’s Limpopo province.
Electricity from the plant will be sold to South African utility Eskom under a 20-year supply agreement.
The deal is part of the government’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme.
Enel country manager in South Africa Lamberto Dai Pra said: “With the completion of Tom Burke, Enel takes its installed capacity in South Africa to nearly 160MW.
“Furthermore, we have more than a GW either recently awarded or already under construction, leveraging on the huge potential offered by this resource-rich country.”
