Questions have been raised about Danish government proposals for a fourth phase of offshore wind development at Horns Rev off the west coast of Jutland.
The initiative could lead to a new project coming online after 2023 but has come under fire from industry players in the country because it is an alternative to the 350MW nearshore round.
Danish Wind Industry Association chief Jan Hylleberg said: “This would be a success story if it weren’t for the fact it is subject to shelving the 350MW coastal plans.”
He said the nearshore round would have produced power by 2019 at a very low cost or around 65 ore/kWh.
Hylleberg accuses the government of “changing horses in midstream” with the Horns Rev 4 proposals.
“Why postpone growth and up to 6000 jobs here and now against an expected effect after 2020? With the proposal on Horns Rev 4 we get less green power, less jobs, while the government delays the green transition,” he said.
