Energinet.dk is kicking off cable installation for the grid connection at Vattenfall’s 400MW Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm in Denmark.
The transmission operator will link the substation to shore with around 33km of 220kV wire over a 10-day period using a number of vessels.
Cabling comes ashore near Henne Strand and will connect with an onshore wire laid last year. Connecting the two wires via a joint will take a further six days.
Main cable lay will be tackled by Danish outfit JD Contractors using DP2 vessel Sima. A second, smaller ship will tackle work in shallower water closer to shore.
The connection is expected to reach shore next week.
