TenneT is to outline its vision for a future large-scale European electricity infrastructure system in the North Sea out to 2050 at media event on 10 June.
The event will take place at the Nieuwspoort International Press Centre in The Hague between 10am and 12pm and be hosted by TenneT chief executive officer Mel Kroon.
He will attempt to answer several questions about the future offshore grid system, including can huge offshore wind farms be connected to an artificial island in the North Sea, instead of being linked directly to national onshore grids by cables?
He will also consider how will all the renewable electricity be supplied to homes and businesses and what is the role played by cross-border subsea ‘electricity highways’ with large transmission capacities?
