Dong Energy has roped Norwegian company NGI to help with suction bucket installation at its 450MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The Oslo outfit will lead on suction operations for jacket foundations at the wind farm, for which a final investment decision is due to be taken later this year.
BR2 is expected to feature suction bucket technology at around 20 of 56 wind turbine foundation locations as well as its offshore substation.
MHI Vestas is the preferred turbine supplier for the wind farm with its V164-8MW machine.
NGI specialises in areas including geotechnics and was one of two companies in the running at BR2.
