BWSC North Lincs has officially opened a 40MW straw-fired biomass plant near Brigg in North Lincolnshire in the UK.
BWSC North Lincs is a joint venture between PensionDanmark, Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractors (BWSC) and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
The £162m project uses technology supplied by BWSC under a turnkey engineering, procurement and construction contract.
The company will also provide operation and maintenance services under a 15-year agreement.
The project has also launched an initial three-year community benefit fund to provide £50,000 a year to the local community.
PensionDanmark chief executive officer Torben Moger Pedersen said: “With the joint venture we have found a model that provides PensionDanmark with a stable return with limited risks.
“We therefore see strong potential in these types of partnerships.”
