Muirhall Energy and WWS Renewables have gained planning approval for the 48MW Crossdykes wind farm in Annandale from Dumfries and Galloway council.
Councillors on the Planning Applications Committee gave their unanimous backing to the 15-turbine wind farm, although the decision is subject to the completion of legal agreements.
The project, which is located between Lockerbie and Langholm, has a contracted grid connection date of October 2018 to tap into a new 33/132kv substation being constructed for the second phase of Ewe Hill wind farm.
Muirhall Energy senior development manager Alastair Yule said: “We are delighted that the councillors voted unanimously to follow the planner’s recommendation to approve our planning application for Crossdykes Wind Farm.
“There was considerable support from a number of community councils for our proposals, as well as from other local groups and organisations, and we would like to thank them for this. Their support was clearly reflected in the decision by councillors.”
Crossdykes is the first consent in Dumfries and Galloway for the partnership between Muirhall Energy and WWS.
The companies are also pursuing a 13-turbine development at Loganhead a few kilometres to the east of Crossdykes in commercial forestry.
An application was lodged with Dumfries and Galloway planners in October 2015.
